Process:
Abstract
silhouettes of
life-size human
figures are 
etched into
flat copper
plates shaped
like surfboards, 
– cut-away,
bent, lifted
and animated
to form a three
dimensional,
sculptural space
that is encircled
by a set of
broken fabric 
sails, which 
co-exist as
waves for
the surfers
to ride on.

Materials:
Large–format 
oxidized copper 
and fabric 
sculptures.

Mesquita's
influences:

Imagery from 
the Etruscans
and Ancient
Egyptians, in
addition to 
Illustrations
from Indian
Kama Sutra.
