“I was liberated
by the pandemic.
I could make art
12 hours a day...”
Born:
1955, Chicago (IL),
United States.
Based:
New York City &
Marfa (Texas).
Curator:
Anne Pontégnie.
The exhibition:
Spans four floors
of the new Xavier
Hufkens gallery in
Brussels designed
by Ghent-based
architects Robbrecht
& Daem; bringing
together several
distinct bodies of work
by Wool, comprising
a group of paintings,
new works on paper,
a series of bronze
and wire sculptures,
and four groups of
photographs.
“For me, it was
never about making
masterpieces. That’s
what postmodernism
means to me, the
end of that modernist
idea that the artist
makes perfect works.
I make alot of mistakes
but I keep them. I use
them and recycle them.”
