“Personal growth
becomes a key to
creating a visual
language. I seek this
in the borderland
between abstraction
and figuration and
see this as a place
to explore the
boundary between
self and other.”
Born:
1986 – Santa Fe (NM),
United States.
‘Contingent’:
Is Los Angeles-based
Mahinay's second solo
exhibition with T293 in
Rome, presenting a new
series of monochromatic
(red toned) paintings on
dyed silk — appearing at
first as a single, connected
piece, yet, conversely
intended, they explore
the equal parts intrinsic
and intimate themes
of separation, distance,
and reconfiguration.
‘Repetition points to
a continual process of
becoming within this
new series; in which
the hand sets the scale
for the world through
visceral gestures and
imprints.’
