2-TIMES • Art
Madeline Hollander,
‘Heads/Tails’
@ Bortolami
—
“The world is full
of ready-made
choreographies
whose existence we
often take for granted—
their signifiers (red, yellow,
green), and directives
(stop, yield, go),
ubiquitous to the point
of invisibility, supplying
the unconscious
programing for our
lives, daily routines
and movements...”
Born:
1986 – Los Angeles,
United States.
‘Heads/Tails’:
Is Hollander's first major
exhibition without human
actors; featuring an
installation consisting of
hundreds of used
automobile head-lights &
tail-lights, covering
opposite walls of the New
York gallery, synched with
the traffic signal at the
nearby intersection of
Walker St & Broadway.
—
Alongside Heads/Tails,
Hollander also presents
a suite of watercolors
that function as
notations and studies
for the installation.
