2-TIMES  Art
Mai-Thu Perret
@ Simon Lee Gallery

Designed to be
illuminating but
not necessarily
explicative, these
found fragments
of verse underline
the discrepancy
between art objects
and the language
used to
describe them.

1976 – Geneva, Switzerland.

The exhibition:
Presented as part of
Simon Lee Gallery's
Viewing Programme,
Perret showcases a
series of glazed ceramic
wall reliefs
that are at
abstract, morphing
from geometric shapes
into figurative forms
found within the
fictive universe of
‘The Crystal Frontier’.

‘The Crystal Frontier’:
Is an invented narrative
developed by Perret
in 1999, which follows
the progress of a group
of women who form an
autonomous commune
in the remote desert
of South Western
New Mexico.
