Oliver Payne,
‘EXHAUST:
BLACK NOISE /
TOXIC WASTE’
@ Herald St
—
“Every dish
on the menu
is an effigy
to a different
robot, itself a
simulation of
the human
form.”
Key reference:
French sociologist
Jean Baudrillard's
book, entitled
‘Simulacra and
Simulation’.
The exhibition:
Is British-born
Oliver Payne's third
solo with Herald St,
for which the artist
closely explores the
notion of simulation;
where everything is
turned into an image,
a conduit for new
meaning.
—
In Payne's work,
readymade objects
have been removed
from their functional
use and turned into
replicas, imitations &
symbols – performing
as stand-ins for
something else.
“If nothing is real,
then everything is
equally real.”
On view at:

—
2 Herald St,
