2-TIMES · Art
Roe Ethridge
'Shelter Island'

The exhibition:
Presents a
new body of
photography
produced by the
artist during a
summer stay at
the eastern end
of Long Island,
New York.

Keywords:
Familiar and
uncanny,
nostalgic and
distinctly
contemporary.

The idea:
"A melancholic
expression of
the end of
summer malaise
".

On Shelter Island,
Ethridge returns
to the American
Kit house his
family rented for
the summer –
discovering a
range of discarded
and stored away
possessions from
the homeowner
and their children,
who have grown
up and moved out.

Look for:
A colorful kite
in water and an
image of Pamela
Anderson eating
grapes.

"In Ethridge’s
distinct technique,
the passage of
time, and of
youth, is made
both intimate
and personal,
yet stylized and
highly mediated
".

On view at:
Gladstone Gallery
—
12 Rue du Grand Cerf,
Brussels, Belgium 1000.

Closes:
March 5, 2016.
