Rosemarie Castoro,
‘Wherein Lies The Space’
@ Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac
—
“A fine bond between
mind and body – gestural,
but above all disciplined.”
Born:
1939 – Brooklyn, New York.
‘Wherein Lies The Space’:
Is Ropac's first solo
presenting the American
artist, coinciding with
what would have been
the 80th anniversary
of Castoro's birth —
encompassing all aspects
of her multi-faceted
‘painter-sculptor’
practice, spanning the
mid-60's to the mid-80's.
Curated by:
Anke Kempkes
&
Pierre-Henri Foulon.
‘One of the few women
associated with Minimalism,
(Castoro) broke the artistic
boundaries of the time by
introducing surreal and
sexual allusions into the
rigour of Minimalism.’
