Yohji Yamamoto Men's SS18
—
Location:
Yohji Yamamoto Inc.
—
155, Rue Saint-Martin,
75003 Paris, France.
Collection
inspiration:
‘New winds
are blowing.’
—
“When you’re
designing for men,
you make a shirt,
a jacket, and pants.
But you still have
many things to do.
How much air do
you put between
the fabric and the
body? Also, market
trends always
influence me. Today
you see young kids
starting to wear
different clothes.
It’s genderless,
maybe..?”
Artist influence:
SS18's first 6
looks paid homage
to Saeko Tsuemura's
portraits of Japanese
women, from the
Taisho era, which
also featured in
Yohji's collections
from the 90’s
and early 2000’s.
The finale:
Presented a
series of silk
floating gowns,
printed with large
portraits of ghost–
looking women
depicted by
Suzume Uchida –
another young
painter Yamamoto
found affinity with.
Footwear
Collaboration:
Adidas.
